Description of the project:

Home forphysically disabled children (aged 0 to14 years old) who suffer from polyhandicaps. The home offers residential service,medical care, leisure activities to +/- 55 children. The centre collaborateswith a special school for disabled children which is in the same building.

Task of the volunteer:

The volunteer willmainly organize leisure activities (excursions, games…) for the disabledchildren for afterschool time, holidays and week-ends. This includes:

- accompaniment of the children (for moving,participating in the activities, evaluating the experiences…)

- animation of activities in the centre or outside(preparation and animation, excursions, searching for partners who can offerintegration activities…)

- contacts with partners (meet partners who can host achild, create a network of partners…)

- administrative work (paperwork for the organisation ofactivities, contacts with volunteers, educators…, mailing to partners…)

The volunteer may also help to give an individualised support to somechildren in the school.

Accommodation: Family stay (weexpect a minimum of participation in daily life and activities).

Work schedule:

the schedule will beflexible and will depend on the time of the year. Most of the animation workwill be done when the children are not at school (every weekday after 15h30, onWednesday afternoon, on week-ends, and all day during school holidays). Thevolunteer will have autonomy to organise his schedule as he wants (30h/week)between the preparation and animation of activities. He won’t take his holidaysduring duringt the school holidays.
