Project name: Olusoye Compensatory Center

Project description and background:
Volunteer will be assigned into a Special School where disadvantaged, mentally and physically impaired children are trained, reformed and rehabilitated. This is a welfare project that gives needed attention to the suffering of children in the area of education especially the mentally retarded and vulnerable children in the society. This physically challenged children are found within our society yet they are marginalised in the sharing of social facilities.
Work and tasks of the volunteer:
This is a Handicapped School Project. So the volunteer will team up with other volunteers as directed by the Project Co-ordinator and Supervisor to: - support the disabled pupils who are on wheels and crutches in movement, - distribution of food and other learning materials - Organize entertainment, cultural events and various social occasions (games, courses of foreign languages, etc.) - language lessons, club activities like singing, music, drawing, personal health teaching etc. The aim of the project is to help the handicapped child to integrate them into the society. To improve the child condition through instructional aids and informal training thus giving hope for their future. It is also desired to reform and create lovely and learning environment for the children in spite of their pathetic situation. The hope is that their neglected conditions is improved upon and to prevent the violation of Child rights. The volunteers will appreciate everyday life, habits and culture of these children through practical and social help being provided within the period. Cultural diversity is also exchanged

Der erste Schritt in der Vermittlung eines Freiwilligen in ein Projekt ist die Teilnahme an einem Infoseminar. Auf diesem Seminar werden Kenntnisse über den SCI und die einzelnen Projekte vermittelt.
Je nach Termin des Infoseminars gibt es verschiedene Bewerbungsfristen:
01. Januar 2010 für Infoseminar vom 05. bis 07. Februar
01. Februar 2010 für Infoseminar vom 26. bis 28. März
15. März 2010 für Infoseminar vom 07. bis 09. Mai
