Ort/Region: Brussels, Belgium
Dauer: 6 months

Description of the project:

The Children'sMuseum wants to give children, thanks to its exhibitions based on playingactivities, the opportunity to learn to know themselves better and tounderstand better the ones around them. The originality of the Children's Museum of Brussels lies, not only inits method (learning by playing), but more in its aim, which is the self-knowledge and understanding ofothers.

Task of the volunteer:

There aredifferent kinds of animations where thevolunteer can be involved: School School visits : leading a group of +/- 15 children through the differentanimations of the museum. It can be donewith a worker but some volunteers feels comfortable enough to do it bythemselves.

Public visits :

- Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday afternoon : also leading individualfamilies through the museum.

-Those days there are also creative workshops (cooking, painting, nature, …). In this activity there are wide possibility for the volunteer topropose personal ideas.

Welcoming for birthday parties (Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon) +animation of the children.

When the museum is more quiet, the volunteer can give a hand in theup-keeping exhibition: painting, wallpaper, repairing, sewing, …. Also sometimes it helps when the volunteergives a help with the welcoming of visitors and being in the cafeteria (insidethe museum ).

We would really appreciate if the volunteer wants to set up a personalproject. This can mainly be through theworkshops.

Possible contact languages: French, Dutch

Accommodation: Family stay (weexpect the participation in daily life and family activities).

Work schedule:

The work scheduleof the volunteer will be from 9 am to 4 pm. As the museumis open during week-ends and public holidays, the volunteer will have theopportunity to have 2 days off a week. Those days will be decided with thetutor.
