Projektbeschreibung:

The Organization

The Women's Development Foundation is a non-racial, non-partisan organisation committed to promoting the political empowerment of women. It was foundend as a direct response to the historical status of women in South Africa and the continually unfolding political developments.

The Foundation's focus is on disadvantaged women in leadership positions. Participants are drawn from all age groups and all regions of South Africa. Furthermore, participants in the foundation's program consist of working women (in both the public and private spheres). This population group is being targeted because past experience indicates that disadvantaged women in leadership positions suffer keenly from discrimination and lack of active professional support. Since they serve a large percentage of disadvantaged communities it is at this level that retooling and professional support as intervention strategies can be most successful. A special focus has been given to the disadvantaged women in the rural sector and HIV/Aids infected and affected.
