For this aim it is running 6 kindergartens, one sewing class for women, one computer class for underprivileged youth.
Temporary are also certain workshops held to educate youth and families in legal issues and, more practical, car repairing. Awarness to health issues and community education is raised during community meetings which are organised by the NGO.
In cases of emergencies (e.g. floods) it supports with health camps, shelter and legal support.
What will the volunteer do?
The volunteer will be involved mainly in the slums and with underprivileged. The first phase will be to get to know and understand the live of slum dwellers by visiting the kindergardens and first hand exposure of the slum culture. The beneficiaries will get aquainted with you thereby you will be able to support the project by writing reports and will have the necessary trust by the youth to assist the education in the computer class.
The work will be focused on your skills. It is planned to be active in the computer class to support the teacher by teaching basic computer knowledge in the standard software. Youth will be educated in this way to get fit for potential job placements. Also the documentation of the NGO activities will be part of the volunteer activities to support the interaction with the public and to give feedback to supporters about the work of the NGO.
As Gujarati is mostly spoken by the beneficiaries it will be helpful for the everyday live to know and understand the basics. To be open to dress like locals and integrate into the society is necessary for a successful stay and co-operation.
The volunteer will be provided with his/her own space in the headquarter and may take part on the meals with locals (basic Indian food).
