Projektbeschreibung:
Organisation Description
The NGOis dedicated to the well being of young people in West Africa,especially Liberians and Ghanaians. The Organization was founded in 2003 and has been involved inproviding Academic education, Peace building, and Vocational skill trainingprograms for Refugees at the Buduburam Refugee camp.
Peace Village
The NGO's answer to this was to start the Peace Village. Currently the organisation is turning more energies and resources towards thisproject. They believe this long-term project will have a lasting impact in Ghana asit will provide important facilities and services to several under-resourcedcommunities in the Awutu-Senya District. The project will also serve tostrengthen trust and friendship between West Africans, specifically Ghanaiansand Liberians in Ghana.
Aboansan School
The main program for this year will be to work specifically with thechildren of Aboansan, where the Peace village is located, while funding issecured for the construction of the school. The Peace Villagecomplex will include a school, vocational skills-training center, healthclinic, guesthouse and community meeting space for peace and conflictresolution training. The goal is to have the school constructed by June 2009.
The NGO will provide literacy, numeracy peace education and sporting activities to children between the ages of 3 and 9 years in the village. The majority of these children do not attend school.
Volunteer Tasks
• Assist hired Ghanaian instructorsin preparing weekly lesson plans and in teaching literacy, numeracy skills, andpeace education to children between the ages of 3 and 9 years.The NGO plans to have Organistionstaff/Ghanaian instructors, volunteers from Aboansan, and internationalvolunteers work with these children three times a week (Monday, Wednesday, andFriday).
Assist the center's staff in organisingsports activities for the children in Aboansan and other surrounding villages.
• Assist the NGO's administrative staffin fundraising and planning for the construction of the West Africa PeaceVillage school.
Assist in establishing the WestAfrica Peace Village Agriculture Project that will help to finance the buildingand maintenance of the school.
